Common questions

How do you compost at Area 2 Farms?

We compost right here at the farm using our own organic microgreen crop waste. After harvest, plant material goes back into the composting cycle alongside our earthworms that break down the organic matter and produce worm castings, which enrich the final mix with living biology. Come take a tour and see for yourself!

Can I use this soil indoors?

Yes, it’s actually ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. It is a well-draining potting mix great for houseplants and outdoor gardens. Water at planting and again when the surface begins to dry out.

What makes this different from store-bought potting soil?

Most store-bought soils are blended months in advance, warehoused, and shipped. Ours is composted at the farm using our own USDA Certified Organic microgreen crops and worm castings.

Why does healthy soil matter for the food I eat?

Soil holds and exchanges vital nutrients through a natural process that delivers them slowly and steadily to plants. That gradual nutrient delivery builds richer flavor and denser nutrition in crops. It’s why what we grow at the farm tastes different from grocery store produce, and it’s why we invest in soil instead of synthetic nutrient solutions.
