Kale

Create your table with your community farm, and no one can kale your vibe! Enjoy frilly, sharp kale greens this week. Full of nutrients and minerals to keep you strong in wintry weather, kale is a versatile produce staple. Create salad bases for kale’s endless flavor combinations — try adding almonds or cashews, balsamic dressings, sharp cheeses, and a spritz of lemon. Add kale to pitas and sandwiches, or use it in smoothies with a dash of this week’s olive oil. We use kale, herb olive oil, and sea salt with pepper to broil up kale chips in the oven. You can and butter and skillet roast with leeks, too!

Leeks

Hearty leeks level up your plate and change a dish into a gourmand masterpiece! A staple of stir fry, leeks add sweetness and warmth when added to wok and skillet meals using butter, oil, or soy sauce. Try adding leeks to tacos, sandwiches, and roasts or stews in the place of onion. Leeks complete egg dishes like omelets and quiche!

Pea Shoots

These tendril-y micros are back! Pea shoots are packed with nutrients and have a refreshing taste and crunch! A farm favorite, this superfood can be eaten raw or with this week’s olive oil as a snack, added into salads, or used in dishes for any meal. Add locally grown pea shoots to your morning smoothie or sprinkle into eggs for breakfast, or add to a sandwich or wrap for lunch. At dinner, pea shoots can be added to pestos or used as a garnish for meat dishes. 

Rosemary

Rosemary has been used for centuries as a natural antibiotic and healing herb. This aromatic herb is grown at your local farm and harvested fresh just before being delivered to you! With stronger flavor and a longer shelf life, this fresh rosemary is perfect in marinades, meat rubs, and sauces. Use in dips where you’d use dill for a different take on winter flavors. Add to pasta sauces, meatballs, and add into ground meat when making tacos or burgers, too! This comforting seasonal herb brings an added depth of flavor to any chef’s creations. 

Herb Oil

Oil has endless uses in a kitchen and on a plate. When farm herbs like oregano are added, the taste and flavor profile become elevated. Use herb oil to flavor homemade or artisanal breads, to dress salads, to liven up pastas, or in stir fry. Use this oil in place of butter for any skillet meal. You can even use it in baking! We love to gently roast this week’s leeks and kale with it, or use it as a dipping sauce for pea shoots!
