Urban Farm Apprentice Program (Full Time)
Our apprentice program is a unique opportunity to work hand in hand with our Head Farmer. You will have the opportunity to learn about every aspect of our business with a career path in operating your own farm as we expand to new neighborhoods.
Head of Design and Construction
Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Head of Design and Construction to lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of our urban farms. This role demands a hands-on leader who can seamlessly blend architectural innovation with practical construction.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership: Lead the full-cycle construction of Area 2 Farms urban farms—from site planning and layout to final buildout.
Construction Management: Develop and manage Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes to support design, collaboration, and execution. Create and iterate on detailed architectural and mechanical models using Autodesk Revit and related software.
Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of hands on innovation and continuous improvement.
Hands on Development: Bring design concepts to life with hands-on building, including fabrication, welding, and mechanical installation. Collaborate with farm designers, engineers, and leadership to continually improve our modular farm systems.
Ensure safety, compliance, and best practices across all construction and build environments.
Qualifications
Technical Skills: Proficiency in design and construction software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM 360 workflows.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Community Engagement: Ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders to ensure projects meet communal needs.
Passionate about building: Can lead infrastructure, and community-centered development.
Skilled in hands-on building: Comfortable with tools, welding, machinery, and fieldwork.
Strong project management skills: able to manage multiple timelines, and stakeholders.
Creative problem-solver: who can bridge the gap between design and execution.
