Carrots

Range of colorful carrots in line side by side

What are Carrots?

Carrots are root vegetables belonging to the parsley family, known for their crisp texture and naturally sweet, earthy flavor. While the classic orange carrot is the most recognized, carrots also come in stunning shades of purple, yellow, red, and white.

At our farm, we grow colorful carrot varieties in nutrient-rich soil, carefully tending to them from seed to harvest. By allowing our carrots to reach peak ripeness, we ensure they are packed with flavor, nutrients, and a satisfying crunch. Delivered straight to our DC metro area community in our vegetable subscription boxes, these carrots are as fresh as they come.

Wash & Store

When washed well, you don’t have to worry about peeling these organic carrots.

  • Separate carrots and greens.

  • Rinse carrots under running water or submerge in a bowl with water. Hand dry.

  • Submerge tops in water and spin dry with a salad spinner. Leave to dry further on a paper or kitchen towel then store in a bag or container with a paper towel.

  • Raw Snacks: Enjoy carrots fresh with hummus or your favorite dip.

  • Roasted: Toss carrots with olive oil, salt, and herbs before roasting them to bring out their natural sweetness.

  • Soups: Add chopped carrots to soups for a rich, earthy flavor.

  • Salads and Slaws: Grate or shave raw carrots into salads for a pop of color and crunch.

  • Mirepoix: Chop carrots, celery, and onions to make this perfect, flavor building trio.

  • Don’t forget the carrot tops! The flavor is similar to parsley, so make a pesto or salsa verde, or simmer in a pot of lentils.
