Farmer Feature - Meet Connor Koch
While studying agriculture at the University of Maryland, Connor was searching for a farm internship when he found Area 2 Farms. One summer became three, and now he’s officially part of the team full-time.
Connor is all about community. He’s from Montgomery County, Maryland, now lives in Virginia, and values knowing that the work he does each day directly supports people nearby. Being part of a farm that feeds its local community is a huge part of what makes the work feel meaningful to him. And he’s ready to grow with the Area 2 Farms as we plant farms in communities everywhere.
If you ever visit the farm, there’s a good chance Connor might be the one showing you around. He enjoys giving tours and hearing visitors talk about their experience. “They have nothing but good things to say about this place,” he says. And that resonates, because he feels the same way.
Connor digs the fast-paced, hands-on environment at Area 2 Farms. He likes getting his hands dirty, jumping between tasks, and working alongside a team that keeps things moving. The energy of the workweek and the people he works with are a big part of why he came on full-time.
One thing Connor really appreciates is the farm’s commitment to wasting nothing. He likes that everything grown has a purpose and gets used, which aligns with how he thinks about food and farming.
Connor is hard-working, enthusiastic, and passionate about what he does, bringing curiosity and energy into every day on the farm. His positive attitude is contagious, and he’s become a great addition to the Area 2 Farms team.
