Wild Winter Greens Mix
Lettuce Mix, Kohlrabi, Chervil
This upbeat salad set is a forward-looking tonic of tastiness and includes a mix high in vitamins A and C, as does the earthy and flavorful Italian minutina. Meaty kohlrabi has anti-inflammatory properties, and is a good source of vitamin B6 and fiber, and is balanced perfectly with delicate chervil, a herbaceous digestive aid.
Farmer’s recommendation: This mix makes for an aromatic sautée, but we like it best sprinkled with chilly water and then used as a bed for a hearty protein or nightshade. For lighter meats or vegetable medleys, add some quinoa or tabouleh for texture. As a salad, add olive oil, mild-vinegar, and sprinkle in some feta cheese.
Mild Microgreens
Get your calcium, vitamins A, B, C, and E, magnesium, iron, and zinc with broccoli microgreens, which are also high in cancer-fighting properties. Microgreens are the first pair of real leaves at the earliest growth stage and are even more nutrient-packed than fully-grown broccoli.
Farmer’s recommendations: Make an omelet, and add these for some extra oomph. They easily pop into smoothie blenders, and airy dips become more fun (and nutritious!) when added to the mix. Try them as a topper for tomato soup or deviled eggs.
Sunflower Microgreens
“Sunnies” are nutrient-dense and brighten up any meal. With the thick shoot's texture and the roasted sunflower seed's flavor, you’ll get vitamins A, C, E, B6, and K, iron, protein, and essential omega-6 and omega-3.
Farmer’s recommendation: These work well as a solo act and with a dip of spicy mustard. They will pep up turkey sandwiches or chicken salad, can top off a bruschetta, or enhance pesto flavor. In a salad, these shoots pair well with arugula.
Scarborough Fair
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme
This tribute to Scarborough Fair includes herbs celebrated since the Middle Ages for their robustness, courage, ability to comfort, and connection to love. We love this bright parsley, warm and fuzzy sage, steadfast rosemary, and the tonic of thyme combination.
Farmer's recommendation: The most famous use of the Scarborough Fair blend is in meaty dishes. Flavor a roasted chicken, brown a large turkey or add these to a pork loin for an unforgettable meal. Beef lovers can add this blend to a rub or in the jus of a ribeye. A perennial vegetarian favorite is a savory gravy made with a mushroom and tomato base.
Combo Mint
Frosted Peppermint and Chocolate Mint
Mint varieties are full of antioxidants, such as vitamins A, B, and C, magnesium, and phosphorus. And these are extra special with the hint of chocolate to accompany peppermint. Chew on a few leaves to cool off a headache, or steep in hot water for a generic tonic tea.
Farmer’s recommendation: Chocolate and mint are a classic combination, and ours tastes wonderful as a crunchy treat! This mint will also augment ice cream, and banana splits, and it shines atop whipped cream for a summery treat. Keep as a bar staple for muddling into rum, gin, or bourbon-based cocktails. Cover the leaves in delicate milk chocolate for a sophisticated garnish and serve with a strawberry or Irish coffee.
