Herby Bread Crumbs Recipe

You can make this recipe and serve immediately, but it will last in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large shallots, thinly sliced

  • 1 cup fresh bread crumbs (about 2 slices of bread, pulsed in a food processor or chopped)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Crisp the Shallots
Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots and cook, stirring frequently, until they’re golden brown and crispy, about 5–7 minutes. Transfer the shallots to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

  2. Toast the Bread Crumbs
In the same skillet, add the bread crumbs to the remaining oil. Stir continuously until they’re golden and crisp, about 3 minutes.

  3. Add Fresh Herbs
Reduce the heat to low, then add the sage, oregano, and thyme to the skillet with the bread crumbs. Stir gently for 1–2 minutes, just until the herbs are fragrant and slightly crisp.

  4. Combine and Season
Remove the skillet from heat, add the fried shallots back into the skillet, and toss everything together until well combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. Serve
Sprinkle the Herby Fried Shallot and Bread Crumb Crunch over roasted vegetables, casseroles, or mashed potatoes for a flavorful, crunchy finish. Perfect for your thanksgiving table!
