Three Ways to Use Mint Sugar
Mint sugar is a fresh, cooling blend of organic mint and sugar. It’s sweet, bright, and perfect for summer recipes.
1. Sweeten Herbal Tea
You can use Area 2 Farms’ Recovery Tea blend or any herbal tea.
Instructions:
Steep herbs, or your Recovery Tea Blend, in warm water for 5–10 minutes.
Strain, then sprinkle in mint sugar to sweeten to your liking.
Add a squeeze of lemon to elevate the flavor.
Tip: For iced tea, just dissolve the sugar in a bit of hot water first, then stir it into your iced tea.
2. Watermelon and Mint Agua Frecsa
This beverage is refreshing and delicious, especially in summertime.
Ingredients:
4 C seedless watermelon, cubed
1/4 C fresh lime juice
1/3 C Supermint Sugar
Water as needed
Instructions:
Place watermelon, lime juice, mint sugar, and 1 C of water into a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Pour into a pitcher and mix with 2 more cups of water.
Taste and adjust with more sugar or lime juice as needed.
Serve over ice.
3. Any-Berry Spoon Cake
Baking with mint sugar can gives a cooling twist to this berry dessert.
Ingredients:
1/2 C butter (1 stick), melted
5–6 oz fresh or frozen berries
1/3 C mint sugar
1/3 C sugar
1/2 C milk (or any milk alternative)
1 t salt
1 C flour
1 t baking powder
Instructions:
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch baking dish with butter.
In a small bowl, combine berries and 1/3 C mint sugar. Mash to release juices. (If using strawberries, cut into large pieces first)
In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, remaining 1/3 C sugar, milk, and salt.
Add flour and baking powder; whisk until smooth.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Spoon berry mixture and juices over the top. Swirl gently into batter if desired.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
Best served warm or at room temp—ideally with vanilla ice cream or homemade whipped cream.
Tips:
For a crisp exterior, preheat your greased pan in the oven for 3 minutes before adding batter.
Sprinkle Demerara sugar over the top before baking for extra crunch.
Peaches or other stone fruit also work well—slice before mixing with sugar.
