Recovery Tea
There is a vicious cycle when it comes to stress and sleep. Lack of sleep is stressful for your body, while stresses in your life can literally keep you up at night. Drinking herbal tea as part of a bedtime routine can calm your body and mind so that you can destress and get some recovery.
What is Recovery Tea?
The Recovery Tea blends fresh organic tulsi, chamomile and lemon balm to create a perfect hot beverage to incorporate into a nightly routine. At our organic farm in Arlington, VA, we grow several herbs and worked with Joneve Murphy, resident farmer at The Inn at Little Washington, who thoughtfully chose these three to make a tea blend that will calm your body and your mind, putting you in a perfect state for deep, quality sleep.
Tulsi, also known as holy basil, is a perennial herb, part of the mint family and one of the approximately 60 species of basil. It is widely grown in India and Southeast Asia. Tulsi is particularly special within Hindu tradition - it’s considered a sacred herb and is widely used in Ayurveda for its many medicinal properties. We incorporate fresh tulsi into our Recovery Tea because it is adaptogenic - it helps your body to better deal with stress. Tulsi has a refreshing flavor, with hints of clove, peppermint and lemon.
Chamomile is a flowering plant that is known for its calming and soothing effects. As a nervine herb, it supports the nervous system which has many benefits. It calms upset digestion, irritated skin, but most importantly in this tea blend, it calms nerves and relieves mental stress. Chamomile has a floral and slightly sweet flavor.
Lemon balm is scientifically known as Melissa officinalis and belongs to the mint family. It’s a bushy herb that has bright green leaves that taste lemony. Like tulsi and chamomile, it has been widely used for its medicinal properties throughout history, and offers calming effects to relieve stress, anxiety, as well as to treat insomnia.
