Radish Microgreens
What are Radish Microgreens?
Radish microgreens are young, tender plants that are harvested just after the first leaves have sprouted from the radish seed, harvested when they’re just a few inches tall, usually 7 to 10 days after planting. If left to grow, they’d turn into the crisp red or purple radishes you know, but at this early stage, they’re all leafy tops with a big burst of flavor. Radishes belong to the Brassicaceae family, which includes commonly eaten vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and kale.
These tiny plants contain the same nutrition as their larger counterparts but in a concentrated, micro, mini-me form. We grow our microgreens in nutrient-rich soil, just like our full-size crops. That’s what gives them their strong peppery bite, vibrant color, and dense nutritional content. Their leaves are tender and mild at first, but you’ll notice a sharp, spicy finish — a little like horseradish, but fresher.
How to Prepare Radish Microgreens
Radish microgreens are ready to eat as soon as they arrive. Just give them a rinse and pat them dry if needed. You can use them like fresh herbs or salad greens:
Sprinkle on top of toast, tacos, or noodles
Mix into salads for a peppery crunch
Use instead of lettuce on sandwiches or burgers
Finish cooked dishes with a handful right before serving
Storage tip: Keep them dry and store in the fridge. A sealed container with a paper towel works well. Use within 5–7 days for best flavor and texture.
