Spring Greens

Spring has arrived at Area2Farms! Our first-of-the-season greens have a fluffy lightness that’s ready for the season. Rich in vitamins and minerals, eat these for folate, vitamins K and A. 

Farmer’s recommendation: Get into the spring spirit with a hearty salad for a meal, adding this week’s buckwheat shoots for balance. Mix with quinoa, chickpeas, or faro for a thoughtful lunch or dinner dish. Or, add oil and wilt over high heat to top a warm entree. 

Buckwheat Shoots

These alkalizing shoots are packed with fiber, amino acids, and nutrients like iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, manganese, and vitamins A, B, K, and C. Health-fortifying microgreens, buckwheat shoots taste earthy and nutty with a hint of citrus. 

Farmer’s recommendation: Add this versatile superfood to spring greens, mix in with an olive spread, or sprinkle on a sandwich. Drizzle in your favorite oil and add sea salt for an updated pairing with bread.

Spicy Blend

This Area 2 Farms specialty mix delivers amino acids, fiber, and is rich in vitamins and antioxidants. The rich flavor profile will sophisticate any meal. Try this creative blend atop salads and sandwiches.

Farmer’s recommendation: Healthy and tasty, our farm partners love these added to smoothies. We love to mix it with fresh tomatoes, oregano, basil, olive oil, spritz with citrus, and briefly chill for a tapenade or bruschetta when atop bread. 

Celery + Mushroom Leaf

Mushroom leaf is versatile, and its bold flavor is perfect for adding texture to salad, bisques, and atop meat dishes. Celery has vitamin E, iodine, and helps flush toxins.

Farmer’s recommendation: Lightness, earthiness, and hearty beans might be the perfect combination. Add in with meat or vegetables to a roux or broth and simmer to produce the perfect stew. Add pepper or paprika to taste.

Chocolate Mint + Peppermint

What’s a new season without an added treat? We blended peppermint and chocolate mint for a flavor-forward, earthy delight. These aromatic herbs have vitamin C and iron. 
Farmer’s recommendation: These are nature’s Thin Mints, so enjoy them at the end of a meal or as a breath-freshening snack! These taste great with berries for a healthy dessert. Blend into smoothies or cocktails, or infuse into syrup.
