Area 2 Farms Local Organic Harvest for the Week of May 29 2023

Peas Please Lettuce Blend

This crispy, crunchy seasonal lettuce mix includes pea shoots and plenty of nutrients! Rich in vitamins A and C, this blend aids in eyesight, reproductive health, and helps you heal from workouts or life stressors.

Our experts recommend an entreé salad with this week’s tomatoes for an extra infusion of health. Turn a luncheon sandwich into a health food event with a heavy sprinkle of this blend. Peas please is also perfectly poised as a bed for avocado, sharp cheeses, rice, or a protein.

Cabbage Microgreens

A favorite on the farm, cabbage microgreens can help lower blood sugar and cholesterol. They have antioxidants, and vitamins C and K, which aid the body in fighting disease. Local food is medicine, and these pretty micros are healthy and delicious!

Our farming experts recommend adding these to tacos, mixing into avocado dishes, and adding to omelets. Atop salads, these healthy crunchies pack in hydration and a nutritional boost. In sandwiches, bright flavor and texture adds an element of sophistication.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes can liven up  vegetable dishes, add flavor and texture to meats, and pair beautifully with everything in this week’s harvest. Expertly grown by your local farmer, they are great for skin health and as a digestion aid. Lycopene rich tomatoes are delicious as a snack or added to multi-flavored dishes.

Eat them in place of popcorn or add to a crudité spread. Our expert farmers slice or dice for salsa, where they add onions, cilantro, and jalapeños. Delicate cooks can slow roast for pastas or stir fry.

Squash Blossoms

Where there’s summer, there’s squash. And where there’s squash — we’ve got squash blossoms! These delicate, edible delights are a perfect addition to a beautiful entreé salad, starch, or meat. These beauties also have system-fortifying iron, and neurologically fortifying folate.

Airy, light fare, add these to tacos, pastas, and pizzas. We showcase them with citrus zest in Bloody Marys or gently stuff them with microgreens for an addition to an appetizer platter or as a salad topper. You can air fry them for a next level treat! These star shaped beauties should be the star of your next meal.

Living Basil Plant

For Memorial Day week, we included a living basil plant as a nod to the living legacy of those who died while serving their country. This plant loves warm, sunny environments and is considered a symbol of love. Grown in your neighborhood, we bring the best of our farm straight to your door every week.

Our farming experts recommend pairing this herb with sliced tomatoes and olive oil for a bright, seasonal starter. Basil supports liver health and reduces inflammation, and is paired well with antioxidant rich citrus and protein-packed grilled meats.

This Week’s Harvest

This Week’s Harvest is a one-time purchase to taste the season's goodness. It includes vibrant greens, fragrant herbs, crisp microgreens, and hearty root vegetables, all freshly harvested and delivered to your front door.
