Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Explained

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a way for you and your community to connect directly with the farmers who grow your food. It allows you to purchase a share of a farm's produce for a full season.

Area 2 Farms harvests and delivers fresh produce to its CSA members. Each week, members receive a basket (or vegetable subscription box) packed with fresh, organic produce that’s always in season. Our local farmers are grounded in traditional methods and skilled at the latest techniques — that means they can grow (almost) anything, any time of the year.

Each week, you’ll get a basket delivered, which is enough to last the week. It will include:

The types of crops we grow and harvest — all USDA certified organic — will vary each week, as well as what is grown, harvested, and delivered each season. Our farmers are able to grow unique varieties of crops, in nutrient-rich soil, that are not readily found in grocery stores.

When you buy a seasonal CSA with Area 2 Farms, you’re supporting a small business, connecting with your community, and investing in your own health.

Reasons to Join a CSA:

1. Local and Fresh

Everything in your CSA basket is grown within 10 miles of your home and put in your hands within 24 hours of harvest. That means each vegetable you get is at peak freshness, full of flavor and nutrition. And you’re buying directly from the person who grew it.

2. Seasonal and Diverse

Each CSA box is a mix of familiar flavors and new-to-you vegetables that you'll love to try, allowing you to eat a diversity of trust-worthy, highly nutritious produce grown organically and without chemicals. Eating a variety of nutrient-dense vegetables, herbs, and greens will enrich your diet.

3. Healthy and Delicious

So much of the produce in grocery stores travels thousands of miles while losing nutrients and flavor. We are a farm in your neighborhood - our produce is delivered within just 10 miles of where it is grown and harvested. Local food is medicine, and when produce is harvested and delivered on the same day, it retains more nutrients and tastes better.
