Twelfth Week of Spring Season 2024
Citrus Crunch
Our Citrus Crunch greens blend combines crispy lettuce with red and green sorrel, which is a tangy, leafy green that contains vitamins C and A, and some B vitamins as well. You’ll enjoy the crunch and unique flavors in this mix. It’s perfect for upleveling your salad game.
Sunflower Shoots
Sunflower shoots are a great source of vitamins and minerals that you can easily incorporate into any snack or meal. They have a mild, nutty flavor and make raw dishes crunchier, or give that sometimes necessary texture to cooked food. These shoots will store great in the fridge with no fuss, keeping their crunch for the week.
Broccoli Microgreens
We pick our broccoli microgreens when they are less than two weeks old, and when they are 40 times more nutritious than full-sized broccoli. They add depth and crunch to any meal that can use an earthy and nutritious component. Their ease-of-use and nutrient-density make incorporating them into your daily life a no-brainer. To store microgreens, line a sealable bag or container with paper towels, add microgreens and keep them in the crisper drawer.
Parsley
Parsley is a medicinal herb grown at our Arlington, VA farm and a culinary classic. We believe this fresh, bright green is essential in the kitchen. Parsley is high in antioxidants and vitamin C, so know that when you add it raw to salads and dressings, or use it to heighten flavors in sauces or marinades, you’re contributing to your overall well-being.
Turnips
Round and bright white, these turnips are harvested when they are no bigger than a golf ball to ensure their slightly sweet flavor and crisp texture. Without the pungency of other turnip varieties, use these turnips shredded in a coleslaw or raw with a dip. Here are some more ways to prepare this week’s turnips, and some info about the benefits of adding them into your diet.
Recovery Tea
(Tulsi, Chamomile, and Lemon Balm)
We only benefit from relief from stress and deep, quality sleep. Incorporating this tea blend into your nighttime routine will calm your body and your mind. Tulsi is adaptogenic which helps your body better deal with stress; chamomile is a nervine which will literally quiet your nerves; and lemon balm reduces anxiety and restlessness. Here is the perfect recipe to add to your bedtime routine.
